Dear Boundary Waters Defender,

As we approach the new year, the Boundary Waters faces growing challenges and opportunities—and we need your help to meet them. Threats are mounting:

  • The incoming presidential administration has vowed to overturn existing protections, including the hard-won 20-year mining ban.
  • Copper mining giant Antofagasta is racing to fast-track a toxic mining project that would irreversibly pollute the pristine lakes, rivers, and forests of Canoe Country.

But here’s the good news: Save the Boundary Waters is ready. We’ve been fighting for years with a proven strategy that combines advocacy, litigation, and strong partnerships in D.C. and beyond. And thanks to supporters like you, we’re prepared to take on these assaults head-on.

Save the Boundary Waters is the voice of the Boundary Waters in Washington, D.C. We travel to D.C. monthly, bringing the voice of people who care about the Wilderness to meet with lawmakers and their staff on Capitol Hill. We’ve brought 500 youth over the years and have organized testimony in front of key committees.

Save the Boundary Waters is a known force in our nation’s capitol – the relationships we have with agency staff and lawmakers couldn’t be built and maintained via Zoom – it’s important to show up and do the work and meet with the people who make the decisions about the fate of America’s most beloved Wilderness.

  3X YOUR IMPACT

What’s in store for 2025?

  • Litigation: Save the Boundary Waters has our day in court in Washington, D.C., on January 13. Save the Boundary Waters’ lawyers are arguing the case – and we are working around the clock from now until then to prepare for this court hearing. We will be arguing alongside the Federal Government for the Boundary Waters.
  • Advocacy in D.C.: We’re a trusted and persistent voice for the Boundary Waters on Capitol Hill, and will continue to meet monthly with lawmakers to push for permanent safeguards. In 2024 alone, we fended off Rep. Stauber’s anti-Wilderness bill and strengthened our relationships with key decision-makers.
  •  Public Engagement: Together, we’re building awareness and rallying public support to keep toxic mining out of America’s most visited Wilderness.

  3X YOUR IMPACT

Will you join us in this critical fight? Donate now to make 3X the impact and help us keep the Boundary Waters safe in 2025 and beyond. Today your impact will be TRIPLED.
