On Sunday, October 6th, thousands of runners gathered in Minneapolis and braved the cold and wind to run the TC Marathon and 10 Mile race. This year, we were a charity partner and had eleven runners on our team, raising over $5,800!

Below are just a few members of our team.

Nicole Rath

I am running in the TC 10 Mile on October 6 as part of the Save the Boundary Waters team to raise awareness about the Boundary Waters Canoe Access wilderness and the effort to ensure permanent protection of the BWCA from toxic sulfide-ore copper mining.

One of my fondest memories as an adult that I have with my dad is when we took a father-daughter trip to the BWCA in September 2013. It was my first trip to the BWCA, and I am thankful that we were able to bond over our shared love of the outdoors, make the most of a couple rainy days with paddling, card playing, creative cooking, naps, listening to loons, portaging and canoeing, troubleshooting, and appreciating a slice of this quiet, wild place.

Growing up, running was a regular part of my life. Running XC in high school shaped me into the person I am today. But as health challenges persisted in college, I stopped running and thought I would never return to it. And I missed it.

During that time, I grew my passion for the outdoors including 3 trips to the BWCA. Even when I wasn't running--feeling the strength and post-run high that comes with the sport--I was able to recognize a new kind of strength that came from paddling. I developed a greater sense of appreciation and love for myself and what my body CAN do when portaging. And I was able to lean into the beauty of slowing down and being in community with others on the lake.

Save the Boundary Waters does incredible work in protecting the BWCA--a beautiful place to get in touch with nature, each other, and self. I'm so excited to be running the 10 Mile race to support them!

Lacey Doboszenski

My name is Lacey, and I'm raising money to run the Twin Cities 10 Miler on October 6th, 2024 for Save the Boundary Waters, an environmental non-profit working to permanently protect the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in Minnesota.

Two things I love: Running & The Boundary Waters. It makes sense I would jump at the chance to put the two together. Growing up in Northeast Minneapolis, I learned to appreciate escaping into nature early on. The sounds of the city replaced by the sounds of the birds, the city lights by the stars. I was blessed to have parents who showed me both worlds. I want this to continue to be available to my own children, their children, and beyond. The Boundary Waters are a unique and beautiful area, like nowhere else I have ever been, and we must protect them.
