Grandma's Marathon 2025

 Be a Boundary Waters Charity Runner

We have been selected as an official charity partner of Grandma's Marathon! 

Become a Charity Runner and help raise awareness and funds for Save the Boundary Waters. Runners can run the full Grandma’s Marathon, the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon, or the William A. Irvin 5K.

Who can participate? 

Anyone interested in running the 2025 Grandma’s Marathon, Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon, or William A. Irvin 5k can participate as a Save the Boundary Waters charity runner. 

How to sign up?

To sign up as a charity runner, please contact Development Officer Amy Yoelin at amy@savetheboundarywaters.org.  You will receive registration information, a promo code to waive your entry fee, and instructions to set up your fundraising page. 

NOTE: Any additional registration options or fees associated with the runner’s failure to follow registration instructions or use the promo code correctly will not be reimbursed.

Fundraising Guidelines and Perks

Fundraising Guidelines: 

Save the Boundary Waters charity runners commit to fundraising a minimum amount prior to race weekend. 

  • Grandma’s Marathon - $500
  • Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon - $500
  • William A. Irvin 5k - $250

NOTE: If the minimum fundraising amount is not met, the remaining balance will be charged to the runner or their race bib will be pulled. 

 

Perks of being a Boundary Waters Charity Runner: 

In addition to a 2025 entry to a Grandma’s Marathon weekend race, all Save the Boundary Waters charity runners will also receive:

  • Save the Boundary Waters branded piece of apparel
  • Two (2) complimentary bleacher passes for the finish line bleachers
  • Fundraising resources and support, including a personal fundraising page and one-on-one meeting with a Save the Boundary Waters team member to help you reach our fundraising goals

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When is Grandma’s Marathon weekend?

A: Grandma’s Marathon weekend is June 20-21, 2025. The 5k takes place on Friday, June 20 and the full marathon and half marathon take place on Saturday, June 21. 

Q: I already registered for a Grandma’s Marathon weekend event, can I still fundraise for Save the Boundary Waters? 

A: Absolutely! Contact Amy Yoelin at amy@savetheboundarywaters.org and she will get you information to set up a fundraising page. 

Q: What happens if I don’t meet the fundraising minimum? 

A: If you don’t meet the fundraising minimum, you can either donate the remaining difference to still run the event or your race bib will be pulled and you won’t be able to participate. 

Q: When is the last day to register?

The last day to become a runner is May 6, 2025 or when we sell out of entries. Check back on this site throughout the year for important announcements.
